Act 3: Part 1- Mapping the Journey

MAPPING THE JOURNEY

This project had a strong research focus whereby we extracted and discovered evidence of the profound, peculiar and particular conditions of contemporary Johannesburg. The purpose being to provide design evidence as to how spaces and people arrange themselves to meet specific known and unknown desires.

Mapping the Journey comprised of a field work exercise in which myself and a partner documented the route through spaces and sites by means of collating material in the form of photographs and maps.

Our focus was on capturing the places visited (Ivory Park; Melrose; the Johannesburg Inner City to name a few) as well as the social interactions between students and our unit staff.
